Boonville

Off to Boonville, NY today to watch and cheer on my friends in the POC chopping club. Timbersports competition. Working with and getting to know this group has really been fun...inspired me to change the name of my Blog and I think my business. I've already taken down the moribund e-strength solutions website. KATA as I use it has nothing to do with martial arts ...it is an acronym. It is an inside joke. For now, only the timbersports guys will get it.
Taking a few kettlebells...POC love the kettlebells. Maybe convert a few more this weekend at the show.
Have a great Saturday.
KATA!

Kettlbell Hell III

This last Sunday I got together with a few of the timbersport athletes I've been working with. These guys are big and strong and they've all taken to kettlebell movements with a vengeance. Especially long cycle. Jamie Cogar has long been an advocate for weight training for his sport and his high level performance reflects his hard work in the gym.
We started off 9am Sunday at the gym and worked on barbell Olympic lifts for a couple of hours. Then we adjourned to Mike's estate for kettlebell practice. I asked my friend Matt to join us since he is a really big strong guy who handles the big kettlebells like toys. Here's some video of us wrapping up.
I managed a few snatch reps with the 48kg "Beast". Matt and Jamie gutted out a few long cycle reps with a pair of Beasts...then we did a little sequence of double swings, cleans, presses, walking swings etc. Thanks to Mike for the video and for providing the shady tree and cold drinks. It was really a privilege to be there.
